Interlibrary Loan

To login to your ILLiad account click here.

The Barrington Area Library offers the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) system ILLiad to request items that are not owned by the Barrington Area Library.  With ILLiad you can place requests, track the status of your requests, view due dates, and renew items all online.

In order to use the ILLiad system you must be a Barrington Area Library card holder and have a valid email address.   The first time you use the ILLiad system you will have to create an account which will include your name, address, telephone number, and email address.  Once your account has been registered you will not have to provide this information again.

First time ILLiad users click here to create an account.

Most libraries will loan for free, however, some libraries do charge for lending or photocopies. If this is the case, we will contact you prior to ordering the item to verify that you would still like the item ordered. If you lose or damage a borrowed item, you will be responsible for the cost of the replacement as set by the lending library.

Please keep in mind the following:
  • The service is offered to all Barrington Area Library card holders.
  • Most libraries will not loan new items (six months old or less).
  • Many libraries do not loan audio visual materials.
  • There is a limit of 10 items in process per card (this includes items that are in your possession).
  • You will automatically receive an email when the item arrives.
  • Items will be held at your specified delivery location for seven days.
  • There is a $5 charge per item if the item is not picked up within 7 days.
  • Due dates are determined by the lending library.  Renewals are at the discretion of the lending library.
  • Allow 7-10 days for an ILL item to be received.
